Using the published ward level data from the 2011 South African census, SASPRI has produced two measures of income poverty at ward level. The proportion of the population of a ward living below two commonly used income poverty lines are calculated. These poverty lines are based on the lower bound and upper bound poverty lines introduced by Hoogeveen and Özler. Click here to download the report. Academic institutions or public bodies who would like access to the data should contact info@saspri.org for further details.
